Dr. Saad bin Awad Al-Harbi, Undersecretary for Programs at the Ministry of Education at Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, stressed the vital role of the Khalifa Award for Education in establishing an educational culture of excellence at various stages of the educational process, expressing his pride in the mission and objectives of the award and the diversity of its fields, as well as the good impact it achieves in terms of discovering and nurturing distinguished talents. From the various elements of the educational process since its launch in 2007.

Dr. Al-Harbi praised the Kingdom’s wide participation in the array of fields offered at various sessions, which is an indication Kingdom’s growing involvement academically and is a proof of its efforts keeping pace with best international practices.

This came during Dr. Saad bin Awad Al-Harbi, Undersecretary for Programs at the Ministry of Education reception of the delegation of the General Secretariat of the Award, headed by Mohammed Salem Al Dhaheri, a member of the Board of Trustees of the Khalifa Award for Education, along with members of the board: Dr. Khaled Al-Abri and Humaid Ibrahim who were keen on introducing the proposed fields of the award’s 17th session.

Muhammad Salem Al Dhaheri commenced the meeting by stating: “Today, as the UAE delegation of the General Secretariat of the Khalifa Award for Education, we are humbled and honoured to visit  the sisterly Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, for which we have all the love and appreciation. We wish to start by express the highest verses of gratitude and appreciation to the Custodian of the Two Mosques. The Honorable King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, King of the sisterly Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, expressing our pride and honour in the fraternal relations that bind His Majesty with His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the State. UAE and KSA enjoy profound historical roots both on the diplomatic and citizens levels.

We also extend our sincere thanks and gratitude for providing the opportunity for this meeting, which represents support for the path of the Khalifa Educational Award and its role in advancing education locally, regionally, and internationally.”

Al Dhaheri added, “The Khalifa Award for Education presents 10 fields distributed into 17 categories covering various areas of the educational process. This award, which is considered an Emirati national initiative that has succeeded in achieving a qualitative leap in the process of quality educational performance in the educational field. We are also proud of the participation and contributions of our brothers at Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in the various sessions of the award, and we always look forward to them continuing this excellence and getting awarded by the Khalifa Award for Education, which its Board of Trustees happens to be chaired by His Highness Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Vice President of the State and Deputy Prime Minister, The Head of the Presidential Office.

Dr. Khaled Al-Abri said, “Over the past sixteen years, the award has succeeded in providing the educational field globally as well as locally with distinguished categories of winners in the various fields presented in its sessions. (528) winners from both genders were commemorated at the level of the UAE and the Arab world. Additionally, we proudly announce that amongst those winners, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia contributed 46 male and female in various fields and categories of the award.

During the meeting, Mr. Hamid Ibrahim gave a quick presentation on the proposed fields, nomination mechanisms, and specific criteria for each field, in addition to the field of the Khalifa International Award for Early Learning, which is considered one of the prominent fields in highlighting studies and research on early childhood care at the global level.

Along the visit agenda, the award delegation held an introductory meeting with Dr. Nayef bin Abed Al-Zari, Director General of Education in the Riyadh Region along teachers of the General Administration of Education, during which a scientific presentation was given regarding mission and objectives of the award and the fields proposed for it for the 17th session, which includes  10  fields distributed over 17 categories. The meeting discussed the mechanisms of nomination for the award via the website as well as the timeline for the current session and the award’s commitment to transparency standards in sorting and judging the nominated works all the way to the awarding ceremony.

The delegation also visited King Abdulaziz City for Science and Technology and met with Dr. Thamer Al-Tabbakh, Director of the Semiconductor Project, Dr. Bandar Al-Kahlan, Director of the Fourth Industry Center along with few academic leaders in the city. The members of the delegation learned about the role of this city in supporting the process of progress and prosperity in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia through Scientific research and technical studies that serve development in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
