His Excellency Sayed Jalal Abdul Mohsen Al-Tabtabaei, Minister of Education in the State of Kuwait, emphasized the distinction and strength of the fraternal relations between the United Arab Emirates and the sisterly State of Kuwait, as well as the prosperity and sustainable growth of these relations in all fields that serve the interests and the wellbeing of their people. He also noted that the cooperation between the two countries in the education sector has acted as a solid foundation of this relationship over the past decades and has had the most significant impact on the strengthening of the bonds of brotherhood between the various groups in the Emirati and Kuwaiti societies.
This occurred during His Excellency’s reception at his office at the Ministry of Education headquarters of the delegation of the General Secretariat of the Khalifa Award for Education. The delegation consisted of Mohammed Salem Al Dhaheri, a member of the Board of Trustees of the Khalifa Award, Amal Al Afeefi, Secretary General of the Award, Dr. Suad Al Suwaidi, Deputy Secretary General of the Award, Dr. Khalid Al Abri, a member of the Executive Committee of the Award, and Hamid Ibrahim, a member of the Executive Committee of the Award. Mansour Al Dhafiri, Assistant Undersecretary for General Education, also participated in the meeting.
At the beginning of the meeting, His Excellency the Minister welcomed the delegation of the General Secretariat of the Award, stressing the importance of the role and message of the Khalifa Award for Education in spreading excellence in the educational field at all levels. His Excellency stressed the keenness of the Ministry of Education to support the message of the Khalifa Award for the educational field in the State of Kuwait and to introduce its message, objectives and proposed fields, and to motivate workers in the field to nominate for these fields through the distinguished works presented by each of them in the field that concerns them. His Excellency expressed the two sides’ aspiration to enhance joint cooperation and increase the participation of workers in the educational and academic field in nominating for the award.
His Excellency pointed out that the education system in the State of Kuwait is witnessing a qualitative leap in terms of keeping pace with the times, anticipating the future, and preparing the student to interact with the technological developments witnessed by the era and employing artificial intelligence in the classroom environment, in addition to consolidating the national identity of the student and arming him with the sciences and skills that enable him to confront future challenges.
For his part, Mohammed Salem Al Dhaheri expressed the award delegation’s appreciation for the warm reception by His Excellency, pointing out the award’s pride in the distinguished participations that the award has received since the launch of its journey in 2007 from candidates in the State of Kuwait, who topped the podiums in a number of sessions.
On her part, Amal Al-Afeefi delivered an in-depth review of the Khalifa Award for Education’s principle and goals during the meeting. The Award, which was established in 2007, conveys a comprehensive message that emphasizes the importance of promoting excellence in the educational sector through its diverse components. During the current session, Al-Afeefi addressed the following 10 fields, which are divided into 17 categories: the Distinguished Educational Personality, General Education (the category of the creative teacher locally and regionally, and the category of institutional educational performance), Education and Community Service (the category of institutions, and the category of the distinguished Emirati family), People of Determination (the category of individuals, and the category of institutions and centers), Creativity in the Arabic language Teaching (the category of the distinguished university professor locally and regionally, and the category of the distinguished teacher locally), Higher Education (the category of the university professor), Educational Research (the category of educational research), Educational Authorship for Children (the category of educational innovations, and the category of children’s literature studies), Innovative Educational Projects and Programs (the category of individuals, the category of institutions, and the category of students), in addition to the Khalifa International Award for Early Learning field, which includes: the category of Best Research and Studies, and the category of Best Programs, Curricula, Teaching methodologies and Practices. The meeting concluded with the delegation presenting the Award shield in appreciation of His Excellency.
The delegation of the General Secretariat of the Khalifa Award for Education also met with Dr. Saad Al-Shabo, Director of the Family Nursery Department at the Ministry of Social Affairs and Labor in the State of Kuwait, who provided the delegation members with a comprehensive overview of the Family Nursery Department, its mission and objectives, and the role it plays in caring for and empowering early childhood. For their part, the delegation members provided a comprehensive picture of the field of the Khalifa International Award for Early Learning and the role of this Award in highlighting the best scientific and applied practices in early childhood care.
The delegation of the General Secretariat of the Award also met with Dr. Amina Al-Farhan, Director of the Kuwait Foundation for the Advancement of Sciences, in the presence of Dr. Matar Hamed Al-Neyadi, Ambassador of the United Arab Emirates to Kuwait. Al-Farhan provided the delegation members with a comprehensive overview of the mission and objectives of the Foundation as well as the Sheikh Jaber Al-Ahmad Award for Young Researchers, stressing the importance of joint cooperation between the two sides in spreading the culture of excellence among young people and various elements of the education system. Dr. Amina Al-Farhan said: The Jaber Al-Ahmad Award for Young Researchers was launched by a generous initiative from the late Amir Sheikh Jaber Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah, may God bless his soul, in 1988 with the aim of encouraging distinguished Kuwaiti scientific competencies with a PhD degree to devote themselves to research, study, writing and translation in various branches of scientific production, as the award covers 6 scientific fields annually.
Dr.Al- Farhan explained that the fields offered in the award include natural sciences and mathematics, engineering sciences, biological sciences, medical sciences, and allied medical sciences, as well as social and human sciences, management and economics. Since its launch, the Award has achieved notable contributions in supporting scientific research and encouraging young researchers to launch distinguished projects and initiatives that serve the local community.
The two sides discussed areas of joint cooperation that enhance the culture of excellence.
