Introducing 10 fields that cover general and university education and promote a culture of excellence throughout all educational sectors

The General Secretariat of the Khalifa Award for Education launched its 17th session 2023-2024, including 10 fields at the local and Arab levels, including: distinguished educational personality, general education, education and community service, people of determination, creativity in teaching the Arabic language, higher education, educational research, educational authorship for children , and innovative educational projects and programs, in addition to the launch of the second session of the Khalifa International Award for Early Learning, which includes: best research and studies category, and the best programs, curricula, teaching methodologies and practices category.

As of today, September 6th, the General Secretariat of the Award is welcoming applications from candidates in various fields until January 12th. Candidates may apply electronically through the Award’s website, and the processes of sorting, evaluating, and judging the nominated works are carried out electronically by specialized scientific committees in each of the fields presented.

This came during the conference organized by the General Secretariat of the Award today at the Emirates Palace Hotel in Abu Dhabi to announce the activities of the 17th session, the fields presented in it, the specific criteria for nomination for each field, and other mechanisms for electronic application of files, in addition to the time plan for this session, applied workshops, and introductory programs.

The conference was attended by Mohammed Salem Al Dhaheri, a member of the Board of Trustees of the Khalifa Award for Education. Dr. Souad Mohammed Al Suwaidi, Deputy Secretary-General of the Award along with other members of the executive committee: Dr. Khaled Al Abri, Dr. Jameela Khanji, and Hamid Ibrahim, all spoke in the conference, amidst the presence of media representatives and members of the administrative and teaching bodies of educational institutions.

 

At the beginning of the conference, Muhammad Salem Al Dhaheri welcomed the attendees, saying: Today, the Khalifa Award for Education inaugurates the seventeenth session, so that this award continues the process of excellence in the educational field in local and international levels. We are proud of the excellence and leadership the award has achieved since the beginning of its journey, and we are proud of the achievements it has recorded in this regard. The award highlighted distinguished teaching and administrative cadres and community entities, all of whom made outstanding contributions to the education process at various levels.

Al Dhaheri added that the award succeeded in being a bridge and exchanging expertise and experiences between the various elements of the educational process, and from here we find a wide demand for participation in the award’s activities and nominations for it through its various sessions, as the award formed a platform for excellence, leadership, and creativity in the educational field. Today we look forward to its new launch, which witnesses a series of events, such as introductory programs and applied workshops. We invite the vital entities of the educational field to interact and nominate in the fields presented, as the award is concerned with excellence in its mission, goals, and role in supporting the advancement of the education sector and anticipating its future.

Dr. Souad Al Suwaidi confirmed the standing of this course, which represents a vital addition to Khalifa Award’s legacy since its launch in 2007, and its mission, goals and executive programs that aim to motivate workers in the educational field to excel and launch initiatives and projects that enhance the renaissance of education, quality of performance and excellence of academic outcomes.

Dr. Al-Suwaidi pointed out that the award has succeeded, over 17 years, in creating a qualitative shift in the academic culture of excellence, both general and university, through the fields presented in it, and in supporting the culture of excellence and motivating workers in the education sector to creativity, innovation and leadership, which had the greatest impact in placing the award at the top of the educational awards at all levels; Local, regional and international.

During the press conference, Dr. Souad Al-Suwaidi reviewed the time plan for the current session, which began today as candidates’ applications are being received electronically through the website developed by the General Secretariat of the Award in accordance with the highest application standards for smart platforms, in a way that enhances the quality of services provided to candidates and reduces time and effort.

Al Suwaidi indicated that the time plan also includes the start of screening of candidates’ applications by the General Secretariat of the Award as a priority stage in the period from January 15th -24th next, after which the Executive Committee of the Khalifa Award for Education and the Sorting Committee for the field of the Khalifa International Award for Early Learning will undertake the screening stage of the nominated works during the period from January 27th to February 7th , the process of judging and evaluating the work of the candidates will be carried out by specialized committees from February 8th to March 19th  next, after which the results will be delivered to the office of the Secretary General of the Award during the period from March 20th – 28th, and a ceremony honoring the candidates will be held in sometime between end of April to mid-May next year.

Dr. Souad also emphasized the award’s interest in strengthening the awareness base of the proposed fields and nomination mechanisms through workshops that enhance the exchange of experiences of excellence between winners and potential candidates, in addition to the presence of specialized work teams of coordinators and arbitrators at the local, Arab and international levels. She elaborated on the aim of enhancing communication with candidates from various educational institutions within the country and beyond, whether for the fields presented in the Khalifa Award for Education or the field of the Khalifa International Award for Early Learning.

For her part, Dr. Jameela Khanji touched on the areas of the Khalifa Award for Education offered at the state level, which include the areas of: general education (the category of creative teacher locally and in the Arab world, and the category of institutional educational performance), the field of education and community service (the category of institutions, the category of distinguished Emirati families), and people of determination. (The category of individuals, and the category of institutions and centers), and she talked about the specific criteria for nomination for each field, and the mechanisms for nomination.

Dr. Khaled Al-Abri presented the areas of the award offered at the level of the Arab world, including: the distinguished educational personality that is granted to individuals who have made outstanding contributions to the process of education at the local and Arab levels, and the field of creativity in Arabic language Teaching (the category of distinguished teacher, and the category of distinguished university professor, locally and Arab world). The field of higher education (distinguished university professor category), the field of educational research (educational research category), the field of educational authorship for children (educational innovations category, children’s literature studies research category), and the field of educational projects and programs (individuals’ category, institutions category, and students’ category).

Hamid Ibrahim also gave a presentation on the field of the Khalifa International Award for Early Learning, which was presented for the first time in the world with the aim of strengthening the process of promoting early childhood and highlighting the most prominent scientific and practical practices sponsored by this category, and providing an environment that stimulates them to grow, create and excel, as this field presents There are two categories: Best research and studies, programs, curricula, methodologies and teaching practices. The awarding committee, which includes several leading specialists in early education around the world, undertakes the process of evaluating and judging the works nominated for this field.
