The General Secretariat of the Khalifa Award for Education stressed the importance of the role of education in community service and the strengthening of the social upbringing system in partnership between educational institutions, the family, and various groups of society, noting that the field of Education and Community Service presented by the award in its multiple sessions aims to consolidate this role at the level of the educational field. Presenting an award to the Distinguished Emirati Family category highlights the creative experiences of Emirati families in caring for their children and pushing them to academic and scientific platforms, thus enhancing the contribution of each of them to national development.
This came during the applied workshop organized by the award remotely in the context of the program to introduce its fields for the current session, entitled “Education and Community Service,” in which Dr. Hussein Al-Othman, an arbitrator in the field of education and community service, and Maryam Al-Aryani, representing the family of Saad Nassib Al-Ahbabi, winner of the fifteenth session of the Khalifa Award for Education, spoke in it.
Dr. Al-Othman stated, “The award’s interest in this field stems from the “Education is Everyone’s Responsibility” initiative, and community service initiatives and projects are among the main characteristics of distinguished educational systems. The programs and projects submitted to the Education and Community Service Award are approved based on applying a set of scientific tools based on scientific standards and Clear, specific performance indicators.”
He pointed out that the category of institutions: includes schools of public or private education and the like and institutions that support education and community service in all fields.
He explained that the criteria for nomination for this category include: that the project is recent, and has not been implemented for more than two years, that the desired results have been achieved, and that more than one party may not participate in the initiative or project presented, as it represents only one entity, and that the nominated project should not come from the core of the foundation’s work, but rather as an added value to serve the community.
For her part, Maryam Al-Aryani spoke about her family’s experience in winning the distinguished Emirati Family category. She highlighted the wise leadership’s significant role to the sons and daughters of the country and the keenness to provide the capabilities and resources that prepare each of them to excel in their scientific and practical careers. She explained that her family was distinguished for many reasons, foremost of which is the practical cooperation between The various members of the family, and keenness to create a social and psychological environment that encourages the family to excel in school, and instilling the values of educational excellence in the hearts of family members, as well as fruitful cooperation with the school, and interaction in following up the children in a way that supports their educational path.
