During the “Khalifa Award for Education” Celebration of the UAE’s Eid Al Etihad

The General Secretariat of the Khalifa Award for Education participated in the country’s merriments of the 53rd Eid Al Etihad and organized a celebration for this occasion as part of the 2024 Sheikh Zayed Heritage Festival. The event was attended by His Excellency Dr. Sultan bin Saif Al Neyadi, Minister of State for Youth Affairs; Mohamed Salem Al Dhaheri, member of the Board of Trustees of the Khalifa Award; Amal Al Afeefi, Secretary-General of the Khalifa Award for Education; Dr. Suad Mohammed Al Suwaidi, Deputy Secretary-General of the Khalifa Award; Dr. Khalid Al Abri, member of the Executive Committee of the Award; Hamid Ibrahim, member of the Executive Committee of the award; along with several officials, educational leaders, academicians, students, and parents.
In his speech, His Excellency Dr. Sultan Al Neyadi stated that under the wise leadership, the UAE continues its journey of empowering youth, a journey that began 53 years ago with the founding of the union. The UAE has always prioritized investing in the minds and ambitions of its youth by continuously providing an advanced educational environment and a comprehensive social and cultural support system that nurtures youth to become pioneers in various fields and active contributors to the nation’s civilizational progress.
His Excellency added, “The achievements of the youth of the UAE today, whether in space or other strategic sectors, are the result of an inspiring national vision that believes in their capabilities, their excellence in notable space missions, and their outstanding creative innovations, which have greatly contributed to enhancing the UAE’s position as a beacon of scientific and technological leadership. This reflects the spirit of youth in the union journey to continue raising the country’s flag high, inspired by the history of the union to build a bright future for the UAE, grounded in the legacy of the founders who believed that the strength of the nation lies in the hands of its youth and their unlimited potential.”
On her part, Amal Al Afeefi confirmed that the celebration of the 53rd Eid Al Etihad embodies the immortal journey of the founding leader, the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, and his fellow founders, who gave the nation a unique unification experience when they launched the blessed union journey. This journey has brought goodness, growth, and prosperity to the country and various segments of society, and its benefits and kindness have extended to all corners of the world, embodying the UAE’s values of giving to all of humanity.
Al-Afeefi praised the sponsorship of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister, and Ruler of Dubai, His Highness Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister, Deputy President of the UAE, and Chairman of the Presidential Court, and their fellow members of the Supreme Council of the Union, the rulers of the Emirates, for this journey, which consistently brings progress and prosperity to future generations.
She further decalred, “Education has been a cornerstone of the union’s journey. The UAE’s education system has successfully met the nation’s needs for specialized cadres in all fields related to the UAE’s agenda in various vital sectors such as health, education, economy, foreign trade, the military, police, and diplomatic services. The sons and daughters of the UAE have excelled and recorded remarkable achievements in artificial intelligence, advanced technology, telecommunications engineering, and space sciences. Celebrating the National Day always highlights these achievements, foremost among them the development of human capital, which has been the center of the nation’s progress and prosperity throughout the union’s journey.”
The ceremony began with the opening of the “Excellence Exhibition” by His Excellency Dr. Sultan Al Neyadi, organized by the General Secretariat of the award under the slogan “Anticipating the Future.” The exhibition featured student teams from Zayed University, Khalifa University, Higher Colleges of Technology, the UAE College of Educational Development, Mubarak Foundation, Emirates National Schools, and the Khalifa Award for Education. It showcased several projects and initiatives representing the students’ creativity in various fields, promoting the culture of sustainability among all community sectors.
The program also included several artistic and folklore segments that embodied the national heritage, including a poetry segment presented by students Sughayra Abu Ubaida, Hamda Al Hantoubi, and Mawza Al Zaabi from Mubarak bin Mohammed School, and Rashid Adel Al Yammahi from Emirates National Schools. Students from Mubarak bin Mohammed School also presented two heritage segments illustrating images of life in the past before the union’s journey began, as well as the development and progress the nation has witnessed since then.
At the end of the ceremony, His Excellency Dr. Sultan Al Neyadi honored the participants in the event, in the presence of Mohamed Salem Al Dhaheri, Amal Al-Afeefi, and Dr. Suad Al Suwaidi.
