Dr. Hussein Darwish, President of the National Center for Scientific Research in Arab Republic of Egypt, affirmed that the Khalifa Award for Education has formed, since its inception, a vital tributary to support excellence in education and scientific research, making it a pioneering platform for consolidating excellence at the academic level. Dr. Darwish indicated that the Center is proud of documenting cooperation and launching programs and initiatives, as the center includes more than 6,000 scientists and researchers who provide scientific research and applied studies in various disciplines of medical, engineering, agricultural, industrial, technical, and environmental sciences. In addition to centers of excellence for scientific research in climate change, early childhood and other fields that can constitute a qualitative addition to the message and objectives. This came during its reception at the center’s headquarters in Dokki, Cairo, to a delegation of the Khalifa Award for Education, headed by Muhammad Salem Al Dhaheri, member of the Board of Trustees of the award, Amal Al-Afifi, Secretary-General of the Award, Dr. Suad Al-Suwaidi, Deputy Secretary-General of the Award, and Dr. Khaled Al-Abri, member of the Executive Committee of the Award. Several scientists and researchers at the center attended the meeting where Dr. Hussein Darwish referred to Cooperation with the Khalifa Award for Education receives the attention of the Center, especially in light of the love, appreciation and pride that we, as scientists, researchers and Egyptians, hold for the United Arab Emirates in fraternal relations that represent a model for relations between brothers in the Arab world.

He explained that the center was established in the year 1939 and went through comprehensive development stages until it became an icon that brings together the elite scientists and researchers in the Arab Republic of Egypt. The center conducts studies and applied research in various scientific fields, which constitute one of the main pillars for the decision-maker, in addition to its role in serving national development in the relevant sectors. The center also includes units of excellence for patents obtained by scientists and researchers in the disciplines presented, and they exceed more than 300 patents in one year, including, for example, a number of patents that we have submitted during the last period due to the outbreak of the COVID pandemic. At the global level, and the associated patents related to the production of vaccines and vaccines, as well as the creation of sterile clothes and masks against viruses and bacteria, and other pioneering scientific initiatives that formed a fundamental pillar in facing the challenges associated with the COVID pandemic in Egypt.

Dr. Hussein Darwish touched on a number of scientific research and applied studies conducted by scientists and researchers at the Research Agriculture Center in Nubaria, which is located on an area of 2,500 acres, including the use of palm residues in the manufacture of paper pulp, as well as the extraction of organic oils, as well as studies on fixing sand dunes and other studies. related to agriculture in saline and arid lands, and also touched on the possibility of cooperation with regard to research and engineering of scientific materials and applications that can be employed in this regard and studies conducted by scientists and researchers at the Center for Childhood Diseases, especially those related to genetic diseases, in which one of the researchers at the center obtained a global patent, As well as studies related to genetic diseases, including mechanisms for preventing deformity during pregnancy, and many studies that the center’s scientists and researchers excelled in presenting them to the health sectors in general, and especially in the field of early childhood care.

For his part, Mohamed Salem Al-Dhaheri praised the excellence of the center and its legacy, which extends over 9 decades, and the pioneering scientific contributions it provides that constitute one of the main pillars to support the scientific research process in the Arab Republic of Egypt and the region, which makes cooperation with the center achieve the goals of the award in spreading the culture of excellence within the Arab region and internationally.

Amal Al-Afifi pointed out the importance of this visit, which constitutes a new starting point for cooperation between the two sides, especially in light of the pioneering message that the Khalifa Award for Education carries in improving educational performance and anticipating the future of the learning environment and scientific research, which represents one of the main axes in building national development at all levels.

During the meeting, Dr. Suad Al-Suwaidi touched on the field of the Khalifa International Award for Early Learning, for which applications are accepted for the current session until February 28, stressing the importance of what the award is currently doing in terms of awareness and definition in this field, which would celebrate the creativity of scientists and researchers in this distinguished national center. And shed light on their scientific contributions in vital files such as genetic diseases, fetal malformations, and early childhood care in a comprehensive manner.

For his part, Dr. Khaled Al-Abri indicated that scientific research receives great attention from the Khalifa Award for Education, and the higher education sector represents one of the prominent axes of the fields presented in the award since its launch in 2007, as it includes the fields of higher education – the innovative university lecturer category, and innovation in teaching Arabic language – distinguished university professor category, educational research, and children’s literature study research category, explaining that the visit of the award delegation to the National Center for Scientific Research aims to introduce researchers and scholars at the center to the role and mission of the award, the fields presented, and the nomination mechanism, which is all done through the latest smart applications and the website that receives applications for candidates and its files electronically and all sorting operations are dealt with

All sorting and arbitration processes are handled smoothly through these applications.

The meeting also included a tour of the scientific production exhibition of researchers and scientists at the center, which included a lot of applied studies presented by the center’s scientists in various engineering, medical and industrial fields, as well as environmental, climatic, and other fields. Commemorative shields were exchanged between the two sides towards the end of the meeting.
