Khalifa Award For Education

On the basis of its objectives to promote education, encourage outstanding educators and enhance innovative education practices, and in order to become a world-class award in the field of education, the Khalifa Award for Education is intended to discover successful individuals and educational practices at the local, regional and Arab world levels. As such, the Award seeks to take its well-deserved place at the forefront of reputable education awards within the UAE and beyond. It aims to release the potential capabilities of educators by creating an environment conducive to enabling educators to excel in an honest competition that releases their innovative capabilities and recognises their outstanding educational skills. The Award was founded under the patronage of HH Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the President of the United Arab Emirates, and thrives under the continuous follow-up of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Abu Dhabi Crown Prince, Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, and the continuous guidance by His Highness Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Presidential Affairs and the Chairman of the Council of Trustees of the Khalifa Award for Education.

In line with these directions, the Award’s Council of Trustees, its Secretariat General and its Executive Committee decided to include all categories of those working in the educational field both within the UAE and in the wider Arab world. The Award shall include the following categories at the local level: General Education; Education for People with Special Needs; Creating Knowledge Networks; New Media and Education; Education and the Sustainable Environment; and Education and Community Service. There are five other general educational categories within the UAE and throughout the Arab world, namely: Higher Education; Educational Research; Projects and Innovative Educational Programmes, Educational Authoring for Children, and a Written Academic Work about the Patron of the Award, His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the President of the United Arab Emirates.

The Award’s major objective is to motivate and promote the development of the educational field within the UAE, and in the Arab world at large, based on the conviction by the Award’s board and General Secretariat that both of these fields complements each other. Since its inception, the Khalifa Award for Education, as a pioneering institution, is committed to the promotion of excellence and a culture of innovation, and the celebration of distinguished skills within the educational field.

Who We Are

The Khalifa Award for Education is an International Education Award founded by the United Arab Emirates. The Award is intended to enhance the educational sector within the UAE, and throughout the Arab world at large, by honouring the distinguished efforts of educators in the various fields of teaching and specialised education.

The Khalifa Award for Education enjoys full-fledged financial and administrative status.

The Award is headquartered in the city of Abu Dhabi, the capital of the UAE, where meetings of the Board, Executive Committee and Arbitration Committees are held. Other branches of the Award may be opened in other UAE cities, by a decision from the Board of Trustees, and some of the Board’s and Executive Committee’s meetings may be transferred to any of these cities.


The Award aims to promote the educational field in the UAE and the Arab world through encouraging and motivating creative and outstanding individuals working in the field. This could be achieved through:

  • 1- Honoring and appreciating educational and creative personalities working in the educational field.

  • 2- Enriching the educational field with educational research, innovation projects and educational programs, and also implementing them.

  • 3- Encouraging linkage of education with modern technologies, new media, and sustainable environment and serving society.

  • 4- Focusing on childhood behavior, teachings and growth; and appreciation of people working in the field of educating people with special needs.

  • 5- Strengthening the linguistic identity of the UAE in the educational field as one of the components of national identity.

  • 6. Encouraging promising talents in the field of Innovation so that they are qualified to achieve innovative contents in the future.
